A yellow powder diluted in gum is painted upon the zari(jari) to give a better appearance and for glazing. If the quantity of gum is less or if the cloth is soaked in water/soap water exceeding ten minutes, there are chances of spreading of yellow color on the material. This is not a manufacturing defect. By washing the material in hot water, the spread yellow color can be cleared and the zari(jari) on the material will become the natural color. The zari(jari) can be repolished if required. Hand wash with ordinary soap (avoid detergent) and starching of cloth will give long life and freshness to the dhoti.
